ALPHA BANK needed a robust and effective middlware solution in order to enable Iseries applications to communicate with the mainframe Unisys applications. They emphasized that any solution applied, needed to conform with Two-Phase Commit protocol used throughout the Bank's applications/databases.

IBM Federation Server was used as a key part of the solution. It acted as a Widows middlware between Iseries applications and SQL Server. In fact, it camouflaged SQL Server as another DB2 database , thus enabling the Iseries (using DB2 for i) applications to execute SQL/SPs etc. using Two-Phase Commit. SQL Server was the other middlware used for the webservices based connectivity, to the mainframe Unisys applications, which complies with the Bank's policy.

DataBlue assumed the responsibility to provide a fully working configuration based on above specs. In this context, DataBlue performed successfully the Installation/Setup and the Configuration of IBM Federation Server, so that all data sources were connected seamlessly and all goals of the project were completed successfully.
