Description: Develop the necessary skills for an administrator, architect, or developer to administer WebSphere Portal. Portal administrators see how to perform such tasks as portlet deployment, portal page creation, document management using Document Manager and Web Content Manager, configure Virtual Portals and many other administrative tasks. Also, discuss approaches involving portal design and implementation
Audience: This is an intermediate course for IBM clients, independent software vendors, systems integrators, and IBM technical staff members, including administrators, architects, and developers who implement portal solutions built on the IBM WebSphere Portal platform
Prerequisites:

Thorough understanding of JSPs, Servlets and WebSphere Portal Server concepts and fundamentals

Material covered:
  • Discuss approaches and processes for the planning and design of a portal community
  • Demonstrate the use of the different WebSphere Portal administration facilities (administration portlets, XMLAccess, and wpscript)
  • Create and manage pages
  • Deploy and manage portlet applications
  • Work with Web Services for Remote Portlets (WSRP)
  • Manage user access to portal resources through the WebSphere authorization mechanism
  • Work with the different tools for creation and management of content in WebSphere Portal (IBM Web Content Manager, Document Manager, and Personalization)
  • Configure and manage a search collection
  • Implement virtual portals, with and without realm support
